Why is your hair frizzy, dull, rough or constantly getting split ends—even though you stopped using heat?

Because “no heat” doesn’t automatically mean “no damage.”

We’ve spent years blaming blowdryers for damaged hair, so air drying started sounding like the healthy option.

But hair has another relationship we need to understand:

WATER.

When hair gets wet, the fiber absorbs water and swells. Repeated wetting and long periods of staying saturated can put stress on the hair fiber. And if your hair is already compromised from bleach, hair color, chemical services, mechanical damage or everyday wear, that matters even more.

So if you’re searching:

Why is my hair frizzy?
Why does my hair look dull?
What causes split ends?
Why does my hair feel rough after washing?
Is air drying better than blow drying?
Does blow drying damage hair?

The answer isn’t simply HEAT = BAD / AIR DRYING = GOOD.

Heat absolutely can damage hair when it’s excessive.

But the goal isn’t to keep your hair soaking wet for hours because you’re afraid of a blowdryer either.

The goal is understanding how to use your tools:

Controlled heat. Controlled airflow. Controlled direction.

Use the nozzle. Keep the dryer moving. Don’t cook the hair. And get the water out efficiently.

Healthy-looking hair isn’t about being afraid of your blowdryer.

It’s about understanding what heat, water and your tools are actually doing to the hair.

And remember:

The Grand Canyon wasn’t carved by a blowdryer. 09/25/2026

A little health and scheduling update for my wonderful clients:

I’m five days post-op from emergency spine surgery.

I’m home now, resting and focusing on recovery. I’m currently out of the salon through at least September 29, and I’ll know more after my follow-up with the surgeon. I’m hoping to return during the first week of October.

In the meantime, Robert and the wonderful team at Robert Markley Salon are helping care for my clients. I can assist with scheduling and provide your color formula, so you’re in excellent hands. You can call them directly at 520-747-1388 or message me and I’ll set it up for you !

Thank you for all the love, meals, flowers, messages, and patience. I feel incredibly supported and grateful, and I can’t wait to be back behind the chair with all of you. ❤️

✨ Transformation Tuesday! ✨

Sometimes the goal isn’t to be lighter—it’s to create balance.

This guest had grown-out, overly light ends with natural regrowth. By adding a combination of highlights and lowlights, we restored depth, dimension, and a softer, more natural blend. The result is a color that looks healthier, richer, and will grow out beautifully.

💛 High and lowlights aren’t just for covering gray or going blonde—they’re one of my favorite ways to:
• Add depth and dimension
• Soften harsh lines
• Blend previous color
• Create a more natural, balanced look
• Give hair the illusion of looking fuller and healthier

I love transformations that enhance what you already have instead of completely changing it. ✨
