Some of the lighter strands you see in this look could be a starting point for beautiful dimension.
With gray blending, I look at where your natural gray grows and decide how highlights, lowlights or soft color can work alongside it. Every pattern is different, which is why the placement matters.
Save this post if you’re curious about making your gray part of your color. ✨

Does your gray seem to reappear just weeks after a color appointment? Often, what catches your eye is the contrast between newly grown gray hair and fully covered roots.
If you’re tired of that noticeable line, gray blending may help create a softer transition as your hair grows. It’s still beautiful color—just designed with the grow-out in mind. 🤍
Would you rather have full coverage or a softer grow-out? Tell me below!

Brunettes are getting richer this fall — but that doesn’t mean flat, dark or one-dimensional.
Think chocolate, espresso, walnut and caramel with enough variation to keep the hair looking soft, glossy and dimensional.
One of my favorite ways to transition summer hair into fall is to add depth strategically instead of simply covering all of the lighter pieces.
You can go richer without losing the dimension you already love.
I’m breaking down this trend and more in my new Fall 2026 Hair Trends blog.

Blonde isn’t going away for fall — it’s just getting creamier.
Beige, vanilla, ch*****ne, honey and soft bronde are replacing some of the ultra-icy looks we’ve seen in past seasons.
The result? Blonde that still feels bright, but softer, richer and often easier to grow out.
And no — fall does NOT mean every blonde needs to suddenly go warm or dark.
Sometimes a toner change, lowlight or softer root is all it takes to completely change the feel of your color.

Copper and cinnamon are having a moment this fall — and I totally understand why.
These tones feel warm, rich and eye-catching without having to go overly bright or harsh. Think soft copper, cinnamon, maple and auburn tones with lots of shine.
Fall is such a beautiful time to lean into warmth, especially if you want your color to feel different, seasonal and full of life.
The key is creating a tone that feels wearable for you and having a plan to keep it fresh, because beautiful red tones do need a little extra love.
I’m sharing more current fall hair trends now on my Color Me Beautiful blog.

Fall hair is officially getting richer, softer and a little more effortless.
This season, it’s less about making a dramatic change and more about making your hair look healthier, shinier and more intentional.
Think:
• Rich dimensional brunettes
• Creamy beige blondes
• Soft copper and cinnamon tones
• Blended roots
• Healthy shine
• Lower-maintenance color
I just shared the full Fall 2026 Hair Trends guide on my Color Me Beautiful blog.
If you’re thinking about changing your hair for fall, this is a great place to start before your next appointment.

Your roots and your ends may be part of the same head of hair, but they can behave very differently when it comes to color.
Fresh regrowth, previous color, highlights, porosity, and years of wear can all change how the hair absorbs and holds pigment. That’s why customized formulas matter — especially when porous ends can sometimes grab too dark, look uneven, or fade faster than expected.
In my newest Color Me Beautiful | The Cut by Kim Journal post, I’m sharing why I often use different formulas from roots to ends, how I color balance with demi-permanent color, and why porosity plays such a big role in the final result.

There’s just something about fresh highlights before heading back to school. 💇♀️📚 Whether it’s a subtle refresh, brighter blonde, or soft dimension, the goal is hair that feels fresh, natural, and still completely you.
I loved creating these highlights for this beautiful teen — bright, blended, and easy to grow out as the school year gets busy. 🤍
If you’ve been thinking about a back-to-school refresh, now is a great time to get on my schedule!

Your roots and your ends may be on the same head… but they’re definitely not the same canvas. 🤍
Fresh regrowth, previously colored mids, porous ends, grey coverage, old highlights — every area of the hair can react differently to color. That’s exactly why I rarely believe in a one-formula-fits-all approach.
In my newest Color Me Beautiful | The Cut by Kim Journal post, I’m breaking down why different areas of your hair may need different formulas, why porous ends can sometimes grab too dark or fade too quickly, and how customized color balancing can make such a difference.
