🍁 Nurture your body this early fall by supporting your Spleen energy! 🍂

In Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), the Spleen and Stomach are considered the core of your digestive system, acting as the primary engine that transforms food into vital energy (Qi) and blood. As we transition from the hot, damp summer into the crisp, dry air of autumn, our bodies naturally require a shift in nutrition to maintain balance and strong immunity.

The Spleen thrives in a warm, dry environment and is easily weakened by raw, cold, or excessively damp foods (like iced drinks, dairy, and raw salads), which can lead to bloating, fatigue, and sluggish digestion. Early autumn is the ideal seasonal window to switch to warm, easily digestible, and naturally sweet, earthy foods that ground your energy.

🍽️ Seasonal Foods to Boost Spleen Qi:
• Root Vegetables: Sweet potatoes, carrots, winter squash, and pumpkin. Their natural sweetness gently nourishes the Spleen.
• Warming Grains: Rice porridge (congee), barley, oats, and millet. These are incredibly gentle on the digestive tract.
• Stewed Fruits: Peaches, pears, and figs. Cooking or poaching these fruits tempers their cooling nature, making them highly beneficial for autumn wellness.
• Aromatic Herbs & Spices: Ginger, cinnamon, and turmeric. These ignite your "digestive fire" and help dispel residual summer dampness.

Simple Fall Shift: Try swapping your cold morning smoothie or iced coffee for a cozy bowl of warm oatmeal spiced with cinnamon and ginger, or opt for a nourishing roasted vegetable soup for lunch! 🥣✨

As we transition into early fall, we begin shifting from the grounded Earth element into the Metal phase of the Five Element Cycle. Traditional Chinese Medicine views this seasonal shift as a crucial time to transition our daily habits to protect our immunity and energy.

Here are three simple, time-tested TCM wellness tips to help your body adapt smoothly:
• 🍲 Shift to Warm, Cooked Foods: Trade cooling summer salads for warm, nourishing soups, root vegetables, and cooked seasonal items like steamed pears to combat "autumn dryness" and protect your digestive fire.

• 🌬️ Practice Deep Breathwork: The lungs and large intestine rule this season. Dedicating 5–10 minutes a day to conscious abdominal breathing strengthens your Lung Qi and helps release stored emotional tension.

• 🧣 Protect Against Wind: Early autumn weather is notoriously unpredictable. Wear light layers and keep your neck covered with a light scarf to shield vulnerable acupuncture points from sudden chills and wind drafts.

In Traditional Chinese Medicine, fall is the season of the Lung and Large Intestine, focusing on letting go, breathing deeply, and gathering your energy for the cooler months ahead.

As the weather shifts, you might notice dryness, seasonal allergies, or a drop in energy. Acupuncture is a powerful way to boost your immune system, support respiratory health, and keep you grounded during this transition.

One of the most common questions we get is:
“How many treatments will I need?”

And we totally get why people ask.

We live in a world of:
one-click ordering,
same day delivery,
and antibiotics that knock something out in 48 hours.

So it can feel surprising when acupuncture works best as a process instead of a one-and-done fix.

But most chronic symptoms did not appear overnight.

The insomnia.
The migraines.
The digestive issues.
The burnout.
The chronic pain.
The hormonal changes.

Usually the body has been compensating for awhile before symptoms become loud enough to interrupt your life.

One treatment can absolutely create meaningful change.
People often sleep better, feel calmer, or notice symptom relief quickly.

But lasting change happens through repetition. Frequency and duration are part of the healing.

Through helping the body practice a new pattern long enough that it starts becoming the default instead of the exception.

That’s how we get to the root of the issue instead of constantly chasing symptoms around.

Real healing tends to be less like flipping a switch and more like watching your body remember how to function well again.

That’s the kind of change that lasts.

This is what we are here for. Link in bio to schedule your first appointment.
