What would you recommend for sensitive skin with possible acne or rosacea?

When skin is red, sensitised and breaking out, my first approach is to assess and simplify skincare regime, before introducing targeted acne or rosacea treatments.

A simple 3-step routine I may recommend is:

1. Obagi Gentle Cleanser: to cleanse
2. Obagi Rebalance Skin Barrier Recovery Cream: to support and restore your skin barrier.
3. Obagi Mineral SPF 50: daily protection, particularly important when skin is sensitive or prone to redness.

Be consistent and have skin reassessed yo tagret acne/rosacea.

Calm inflammation.
Protect your skin.
Repair your skin.
Then Treat!

12 weeks to Christmas… what could we change with your skin? ✨

If Christmas is when you want your skin looking its healthiest, now is the time to start — not the week before.

Good skin results take time. Whether you're concerned about dullness, pigmentation, acne, scarring, texture, fine lines or simply feel your skin has lost its glow, starting now gives us time to properly assess your skin and create a plan that is right for you.

At The Skin & Scar Nurse, I start with a nurse-led consultation and detailed skin analysis.
From there, I can recommend the right combination of professional treatments and medical-grade homecare to work towards healthier, stronger, more radiant skin — without rushing the process.

Depending on your skin, your plan may include treatments such as chemical peels, SkinPen microneedling, skin boosters, PRP, polynucleotides, regenerative treatments or a customised professional skin treatment.

🎄 12 weeks.
A personalised plan.
Your skin — just healthier!

My October appointments are already nearly fully booked, so if Christmas skin is on your mind,
I would recommend getting your consultation booked in preparation

3 things I wish more people knew about their skin…

You don’t need lots of products.
A simple routine with the right ingredients for your skin will often achieve far more than a shelf full of products.

You don’t need to know which treatment you need.
Microneedling, peels, polynucleotides, skin boosters… it can be confusing. My job is to assess your skin first and recommend what is actually appropriate for you.

Healthy skin takes time.
Whether we’re treating acne, scarring, pigmentation or signs of ageing, lasting improvements rarely happen overnight. Consistency, the right homecare and an appropriate treatment plan matter.

Because understanding your skin is where good skin treatment starts.

If you still have a little time in the sun planned ☀️ these are my non-negotiables:

👒 A hat
🕶️ Sunglasses
☀️ SPF 50 — always.

And a few of my personal favourites that are coming with me…

Elementre SPF 50 Light Tint — my go-to for daytime. It gives me just enough coverage while keeping my skin protected.

Obagi Medical SPF 50 Cool Tint — I love this when I want a little more coverage for the evening without wearing a full face of makeup.

Obagi Medical Lip AM Soothe & Protect — because our lips need protecting too!

I am definitely not a makeup girly 😂 so tinted SPF is perfect for me — a little bit of coverage while still prioritising my skin.

Although I’m hoping can teach me a thing or two at her Girls Night In Masterclass 💕

For me, sun protection isn't just about preventing sunburn. It's one of the most important things we can do to protect our skin health and help prevent premature skin ageing and sun damage.
Protect first. Everything else comes after!

Feeling like your skin is suddenly looking older?

As a nurse, I look at why your skin has changed before recommending any treatment.

Dehydration, hormonal changes, collagen loss, pigmentation and changes in skin texture can all contribute.

The right treatment starts with identifying the cause and assessing what your skin actually needs.

Assessment first.
Treatment second.
Healthy skin always.

If your skin tends to flare around your period, hormonal fluctuations are often the cause but it is important to consider that there can be other contributing factors too.

Rather than jumping in with to many active ingredients to try and treat, it is important to look at why your skin is breaking out and choose the right approach for your skin.

If your adult acne has suddenly changed or become more persistent, a proper skin assessment is always good place to start.

I’ve been a little quiet on here lately…
but life has been very busy behind the scenes 🤍

So, let’s catch up…

🏡 We moved house!
A big change for our little family and a very busy few weeks of boxes, organising and settling into our new home.

🎂 I celebrated another trip around the sun…
In true glamorous fashion —
Toy Story PJs, lots of good food, W**e, Cake & of course SKINÉIRE mask 😍
Exactly how I wanted it!

💉 Clinic life has been busy too…
Our newest injectable, Celora Vita, has been proving very popular in clinic.
I’ll be talking much more about this one very soon — what it is, who it may suit and why I’ve chosen to introduce it The Skin & Scar Nurse

🎒 My babies started school
A huge little milestone… and definitely an emotional one 🥹
Very proud mammy moment ❤️

✨ And some very exciting news for the clinic…
The Skin & Scar Nurse has been nominated for the prestigious
Something I’m incredibly proud of, particularly because safety, professionalism and patient care are at the heart of everything I do.

🎉 And finally… The Skin & Scar Nurse turned TWO!
Two years of consultations, treatments, learning, growing and getting to know so many wonderful clients.

I honestly couldn’t do any of it without the people who continue to support me.

Thank you so much to all of my amazing clients for trusting me with your skin, and to my gorgeous family for continuing to back me every step of the way 🥰

Here’s to year three…🍀

As Acne Awareness Month draws to a close,
I want to talk about one of my favourite treatments for acne... chemical peels!

One question I'm often asked is, "Are all chemical peels the same?"

The answer is No!!

Chemical peels vary in their ingredients, strength and depth of pe*******on, meaning each peel is designed to target different skin concerns. While some peels are excellent for treating acne and congestion, others are better suited to pigmentation, fine lines or simply restoring a healthy glow.

So how do you know which peel is right for you?

The best peel isn't the strongest one—it's the one that's right for your skin.

That's why every treatment begins with a thorough consultation.
I assess your skin type, skin barrier, medical history, current skincare routine and treatment goals before recommending the most appropriate peel for you.

Choosing the correct peel not only improves results but also helps protect your skin barrier and reduces the risk of irritation.

If you're struggling with acne or would like to know whether a chemical peel could benefit your skin, I'd be happy to help.

We all get stressed, and it often shows on our skin.

Stress can contribute to breakouts, rosacea flare-ups, increased sensitivity, dryness and delayed healing. Looking after your skin means looking after your overall wellbeing too.

STRESS

S – Sleep
T – Time for yourself
R – Reduce stress where possible
E – Eat right
S – Stretch your legs
S – Speak & Seek Support

🖤 Look after all of your holistic care, because healthy skin starts from within.

💬 DM the word "STRESS" if you'd like me to discuss more about stress and skin health.

If stress is affecting your skin and you need support managing concerns such as acne, rosacea, sensitivity or overall skin health, book a consultation through the link in my bio and let me help you create a personalised plan to support both your skin and your confidence.
