Ok so ….ALL YOU’VE GOT IS A BLURRY MIRROR SELFIE FROM YOUR CLIENT….? USE IT.

Not every client wants to be filmed. Not every salon owner feels comfortable turning the camera on. And not every photo needs to look like a professional campaign.

So, what can you do with what you’ve got?
Let’s say your client takes a mirror selfie. You ask her to send it to you, she texts it through and the resolution is terrible. Her face is hidden, the lighting isn’t great, but you’ve got a photo nonetheless.

Here’s where you get creative. 👇🏼
Instead of looking at everything the photo is missing, think about what you can add.

We took a simple mirror selfie and added an appointment sticker showing:

✦ What time she arrived and left
✦ What services she received
✦ How long her appointment took
✦ Which MAIDEN products were used
✦ Where her appointment took place

Now we’re doing more than showing someone’s hair.

We’re showing potential customers what an appointment looks like, how much time they might need and what happens inside the salon.

The client didn’t have to pose, speak on camera or do anything she wasn’t comfortable with.
Our usual content is HD, polished and carefully photographed, This isn’t, And that’s exactly why we’re sharing it in hopes a stylist who is struggling for content sees this

We want to show salons at every stage that you don’t need perfect content to communicate value.

Sometimes the difference between a photo you wouldn’t post and one you would is simply the information you put around it.

Don’t wait until you’ve got better content. Get better at using what you’ve already got. 🤍

Hairdressers, we’ve all had that one client tell us what their last hairdresser charged or what they “supposedly” had done and sometimes you just need a minute to dress appropriately before you can believe the story.

what’s the most outrageous story a client has told you that you just KNOW wasn’t true? 😂

Literally me …. wondering how we’ve been talking for 20 minutes and hair extensions haven’t come up.

Two colours can look almost identical on a swatch and completely different once they’re sitting in someone’s hair.

Hair colour isn’t simply blonde, brunette or copper. Underneath what we see sits warmth, coolness or neutrality and understanding that underlying tone is what turns a close extension match into one that disappears.

Think of it like a ratio.
🟠 Warm = more red + yellow
🔵 Cool = more blue
⚖️ Neutral = a more balanced combination

Depth alone doesn’t determine the match, you can have two level 7s sitting beside each other, but if one carries a creamy warmth and the other a muted ash undertone, your eye will still detect the difference.

The goal isn’t always finding one extension colour that looks identical to the client’s hair, sometimes the most seamless blend comes from combining shades with different undertones in the right proportions.

Once you learn to see undertone, you stop asking:
“Is this blonde close enough?”

And start asking:
“What colours is my eye actually seeing?” 👀

TWO IN. THREE OUT.

We size for the salon and at home.

Think about the last extension client you installed.

You chose the shade.
You chose the method.
You chose the placement.
You spent hours creating the finished result.

Then what did she wash it with?
Because if you trust MAIDEN enough to install it, it makes sense to maintain it with MAIDEN too.

At the salon, it starts at the basin.

Rinse & Repeat.
Seal The Deal.

Cleanse. Condition. Two steps.
Then she goes home and instead of handing her a complicated list of what she should be doing, give her the same simple routine.

Two in the shower. Three out.

🚿 Rinse & Repeat — cleanse.
🚿 Seal The Deal — condition + soften.

Then:

✨ Tame The Mane — frizz.
🔥 Prime Time Ultra — heat.
💧 Give Me Life — daily elixir.

And here’s the question for hairdressers:
If your client has invested in beautiful hair, why would the products protecting it be the part left to chance?

Professional basin sizes for the salon.
Retail sizes for home.

So the routine you start behind the chair is the routine she continues in her shower.

Maiden Haircare.
Two in. Three out. From installation to maintenance.

👀 YES, WE SAW IT.

Yes, we saw the post.
Yes, we saw the tags.
Yes, we saw the comments.

And yes… we saw you all sending it to us. 😂

stylists posting their completely normal salon trolleys again, and the conversation spreading into something much bigger than we expected.

And we have some thoughts.
Because in 2026, posting a completely normal photo of the trolley you work from every day is slightly controversial.

So yes. We’re addressing it.

Swipe. 👉🏼

OPEN vs CLOSED BLANKET STITCH 🪡
Once you understand the difference between the two stitches, the technique makes a lot more sense. The biggest thing with any weft application is getting your foundation right first. Your beads support the weight of the weft and your stitching secures everything into place. You don’t want to rely on really tight stitching to hold the application together.

With an open blanket stitch, each stitch is created individually. Bring your needle through, create your loop, lock it off and then move along to your next stitch. LOOP → LOCK → MOVE. Because each stitch sits independently rather than connecting into the previous stitch, the row has a little more flexibility and can also be easier to remove at maintenance.

With a closed blanket stitch, you’re using a similar motion, except each new stitch connects into the previous one. LOOP → LOCK → CONNECT → REPEAT. This creates a continuous locked stitch across the weft rather than each stitch sitting individually.

The most important thing to understand: closed does NOT mean tighter. It simply means the stitches are connected. Whichever technique you use, your stitching should be snug enough to keep the weft flat and secure without creating unnecessary tension on the natural hair or scalp.

When working with finer hair, be mindful of how much natural hair is supporting each bead and how much extension hair you’re placing onto that foundation. Don’t compensate for fine hair by making everything tighter. The same applies to thicker hair, adjust your rows and weight distribution rather than increasing tension.

Pay attention to your first and last stitches too. You want the ends secure and sitting flat without pulling them down excessively. Once your row is finished, feel across the application and check with your client for any pulling or pinching. Secure should still feel comfortable.

The easiest way to remember it: OPEN = individual stitches. CLOSED = connected stitches.
Beads = support. Stitching = security. Good tension = comfort. Good placement = longevity. 🤍
