❤️ Allen Iverson Never Forgot the Teammate Who Taught Him His Crossover

Dean Berry was a Georgetown walk-on.

He barely played.

But in practice, he had one move Allen Iverson simply couldn’t stop.

Berry kept hitting Iverson with the crossover over and over again.

And eventually, the superstar had to swallow his pride.

Iverson pulled him aside and basically said:

“You have to show me that move.”

So Berry did.

And the two stayed after practice every day, with Berry teaching Iverson the move that would eventually become one of the most famous crossovers in basketball

Years later, Iverson would use that same move against defenders all over the NBA.

Including Michael Jordan.

But AI never forgot where it came from.

At his 2016 Hall of Fame induction, Iverson started naming the people from Georgetown who helped shape him.

Then he got to Dean Berry.

And he said:

“Maybe I wouldn’t be standing here if it wasn’t for Dean Berry teaching me the crossover.”

Then he explained that Berry was a walk-on who didn’t even have his name on the back of his jersey.

But Iverson remembered him.

He remembered the practices.

He remembered staying late.

And he remembered the teammate who helped him add one of the most important weapons to his game.

25 years later, Allen Iverson was standing on the biggest basketball stage of his life…

And he still remembered Dean Berry.

That says a lot about Allen Iverson.
