A question we are asked frequently is why we don't use crystals in our candles;

Putting crystals in candles is not considered healthy or safe; in fact, professional candle-making standards and safety experts widely advise against it.

While the trend is marketed by wellness brands as a way to promote "energetic healing," "synergy," and "emotional resonance", putting physical stones inside burning wax introduces significant health and physical safety hazards.

Explosion Hazards: Crystals often contain microscopic pockets of air, liquid, or trapped moisture. When heated by a candle flame, these pockets expand rapidly, which can cause the stone to fracture, pop, or violently explode, spraying hot wax and sharp debris.

Glass Shattering: Heavy stones shift as the wax melts. If a crystal rests against the side of a glass container, it creates a localized hot spot due to uneven heat distribution. This thermal shock can cause the entire glass jar to crack or shatter.

Toxic Fumes: Unscrupulous or uneducated manufacturers sometimes use fake crystals made of plastics, polymers, or dyed resins. When exposed to heat, these materials melt and burn, releasing highly toxic chemical fumes directly into your breathing zone.

Fire Risks: A crystal can accidentally submerge, trap, or crowd the wick. This alters the flame's performance, potentially creating a secondary wick or an uncontrollably large flame, presenting an immediate fire hazard.

The "health" claims associated with crystal candles do not stem from medical or scientific consensus. Instead, they rely purely on holistic and spiritual practices.
